Wayúu bags are part of the Colombian heritage. The Wayúu are an ethnic group that carefully keeps it's traditions and cultural wealth like the handcraft of amazing textile pieces, taught by the o Wale'Kerü mythical spider, as the story is told. They live in the Guajira peninsula, in northeast Colombia, close to the border with Venezuela. This ancient community with a matriarchal society live roughly in a dessert facing the Caribbean sea. Bags are the highest expression of the Wayúu textile handcraft. Are easily recognized by their colors and designs. Are weaved in crochet, a hook technique taught by the catholic missions in the early 20th century. Each bag can requires almost 20 days of work.
